Just moved from a 5 to a 3 to a 4. 5 when I had on draught a while back. Then at the brewery I rated it 3. Now at stones inn I go with a 4. It's so light for the flavor it packs. Hardcore hops with the carbonated kick of a cider. God damnit. Just had it a third time and it's amazing. 4.5 tonight. What's up with my tongue
A wee bit weak for an IPA. I'd expect more body and texture. But the beer is drinkable.
On tap. A nice India pale lager for people who are not fans of IPAs. Hoppy, yes, but in a refreshing way with a light fluffy taste.
Great beer for any occasion, good hoppy taste without overpowering.
Though an IPL, it drinks like an IPA. Very smooth and crisp with nice hoppy citrus flavors.
Good hoppy, clean IPA as good in a bottle as it is on tap. Not overpowering and no malty after taste.
For a lager, you can't do much better. It's extremely drinkable despite its hoppiness.
I love this beer and am thrilled that Jack's Abby is local. I don't lament the relative leanness of body--it feels right for the style and for me, at least, the hop flavor is not out of balance. The carbonation is great and makes for high drinkability (too high?). Long live the Union!
Lifeless IPA, not enough body for me. Somewhat watery
I had an opportunity to taste several of Jack's Abby beers recently. I thought I would really like this one, as I am a hop-head, but I was rather dissapointed, the body was very thin, with almost no malt backbone to support the level of hops used. I suspect a combination of using lager yeast, and minimal body malts. My impression of this beer was of a hop tea, just water and hops.
A well-balanced IPL. Crisp like most of their other beers, but with a bold citrusy hop presence.
Crisp taste, nice carbonation. Get it if you can.
Nicely balanced IPL. Clear color, little head. Good combo of malt and hops. Easy drinking, you can kick back and have a few of these. Not in the league of a big IPA but worth a try.
It's a well balanced, high in taste beer that has great texture
Well balanced IPA with earthy hops and a slightly citrusy malt flavor. Decent.
Great on draft or bottle. Nice dark yellow color with perfect clarity. Pale white cap small bubbles and perfect lacing. Smell is top shelf nice west coast hops come out at you with some nice bready and toasty notes. Taste is on par with the smell, big malt backbone with a nice citrus hoppiness to it, very well balanced. Texture is nice, a great clean feeling with a nice dry hoppy, bitter finish. Take the best parts of a quality Lager and the best parts of an IPA (both filtered) . This beer is dangerously drinkable as well, nothing not to like about it.
Excellent IPA...actually a larger IPA. Lots of citrus and very drinkable. A little different than the usual IPA. My new favorite.
Hoppy at first but smooths out
