2012 version: Biere de Garde. Poured center from bottle into a tulip glass. Gorgeous transparent dark amber with two fingers of fluffy dark egg shell white head of consistent medium bubble sizes. Spicy nose with some coriander and clove notes. High carbonation, thick retention, thick soapy lacing. Spice forward body is fairly uniform with heavy clove notes and creamed corn. Creamy mouthfeel, spice is moderately resilient. Light and fairly easy to drink. Not my favorite style of beer, but this is well done and drinkable for me. 2014 vintage: grand cru: clear transparent copper with a finger and a half of egg shell white head of mixed size bubbles. Several streams of carbonation randomly spaced across the bottom of the glass. Thin retention, thin lace slides down the glass. Bright lemon and coriander aroma. Spicy coriander with honey in the body. Light lemon finish. Really straightforward flavor profile but well done. Really faint sliver of hot alcohol in the mouthfeel to me but still easy to drink. I'm not too familiar with Grand Cru as a style but I like this beer.

One of my favorites from Schells. Great hearty flavor. What a winter brew should be.

Baltic porter? Color and no smokiness do not fit style.

Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. A - Fairly clear orangish-brown and Amber in Color. Nice couple fingers of a yellowish head that dissipates fairly quickly. S - I smell Banana Bread. Basically Banana, Cinnamon, and clove. T- The smell is strong on Banana, but the taste shifts to a very malty and spicy brew. You can still taste Banana, but it's not as prominent as it is in the nose. M - Very smooth almost creamy nature to this beer with a fair amount of carbonation. D - It's a pretty tasty beer, but as with most spiced Winter beers for me slow and steady to drink and 1 is enough. Not a session beer thats for sure.
