About American Barleywine
American Barleywines can range from light amber to light brown in color. American Barleywines differ from the English Variety in that they are often much more hopped, providing a sharp bitterness. The aroma of these ales is very much dominated by malt and hop fragrances, although fruits and spices may also be present. Beers of this style will have a rich malty body and significant hop bitterness. Fruit flavors will not be as noticeable as in their English counterparts. These ales are smooth, full in body, low in carbonation, and somewhat sweet to dry in finish.
