Dogfish Head Burton Baton December 20, 2011

Unbelievable flavor, unbelievable mouthfeel, unbelievable finish. This tastes like 90-Minute IPA, but smoother and without as much of a hop kick. It's incredibly complex and flavorful and VERY drinkable. It's expensive, but worth it!

Irish Death January 17, 2012

I heard a bit of hype over this and when I found it on draft locally I was able to get a growler full. I love a great dark beer. LOVE a great beer. I'm also very picky. This dark ale isn't great. It's spectacular! Great rich dark color and tantalizing aromas of roasted malts, coffee, and chocolate. Incredible flavors that exceed the aromas! I haven't found that often at all! This is rich, dark, and complex malty goodness at it's best! I can't speak highly enough. This is hands-down the single best dark beers I've ever had. EXCELLENT!

Left Hand Milk Stout August 11, 2011
Overall Rating

Black a strong coffee, dark brown head, strong roasted flavor with strong coffee-like notes almost reminiscent of a porter. And yet it has a nice creamy texture that really does kind of have a milky flavor and aftertaste. It has a pleasant aroma but strong taste. Wasn't sure if I'd even like it as I'm not a huge Stout fan, but I would definitely have another of these. This is a beer you take your time with. Savor it! Well done Left Hand!

Dogfish Head World Wide Stout November 25, 2011

This stout is hands-down the most amazing stout I've ever consumed. Ever. Dark rich black color with mind-boggling flavor. The roasted barley malts are astounding and rich flavors beyond that of wooden barrels and almost a whiskey or Bourbon greet you afterward. At $10 for a 12oz bottle its by no means cheap or affordable, but the flavor is literally unreal.. .

Deschutes The Stoic December 29, 2011

Dark honey color with minimal head. Rich aroma with fruit and rye notes evident. Very interesting and complex with sweet - almost mild sour - flavors. I tasted hints of apricot and sweet fruity flavors that make it have almost a wine type of flair. It is very flavorful and complex, but very unique. Certainly worth the experience but not an everyday drink.

Amazing roasted chocolate and coffee notes on an incredibly drinkable DARK beer. Having not had many porters yet, I was BEYOND impressed! Absolutely awesome beer.

Red Chair Northwest Pale Ale January 17, 2012

This is an amazing winter beer that I've been eagerly anticipating since last season when I first discovered it. It has a beautiful dark amber color and very fragrant aromas. Fantastic smooth citrus flavors with little discernable bitterness. 60 IBU's? Could have fooled me! The malts really round this out and give a nice unique backbone that is spot-on. This is refreshing and perfect for a cold winter day. I can't speak more highly of it.

BEST IPA EVER! I can not get enough of the amazing citruce hoppy flavors in this beer. Yes, it's expensive compared to most. It is most definitely worth it though!

First off, I am a beer snob through and through. I live for an amazing micro brew. That said, this is the most amazing beer I have ever had. Literally. You can taste the wood from the casks, caramel, molasses, and vanilla. It's VERY dark, and even has hints of whiskey in it. The ABV and the general mouthfeel of it translates into something you definitely don't chug, but SAVOR! And boy is it worth savoring! What an incredible beer! You can feel the warmth as it goes down... Absolutely incredible fall/winter beer! Words are somewhat inadequate... wow...

CoCoNut PorTeR June 6, 2012

The aroma of this is pretty nice, but was just a touch heavy on the coconut. Once poured into a glass (from a can? Really?!? A can?!?) the color was beautiful and dark with a large darker brown head. The initial impression of the flavor didn't impress me much. Although I liked the dark roasted chocolate and coffee flavors, the coconut flavor wasn't initially as smooth as I thought it would be. About 1/3 the way through it I was changing my mind a bit. All things said, it is a good beer and is certainly worth trying. It's unrealistic to expect it to be everyone's cup o' tea, but it is quite good once you take a minute to get used to an unorthodox ingredient.

Boulevard Dark Truth Stout January 7, 2012

Great dark color and intense aroma. Very dark and thick head. This has a very heavy intense smokey flavor that might not be everybody's cup of tea, but it sure hit the spot for me! Great roasted flavors and the smokey notes compliment it beautifully. This really is a fantastic stout that I intend to enjoy many more times.

Beautiful caramel brown color and sweet aroma. Fantastic malty complexity and very flavorful hoppy flavors that are beautifully complimentary. This goes down with incredible smoothness that makes you want to take your time and savor it - which is good, considering the 11% ABV. FANTASTIC!

Coffee black with dark head. Nice roasted coffee type flavors with bitterness that seems different than from hops. Smooth finish and easy to drink. One if the best "standard" (not a milk, coconut, oatmeal, etc) stouts I've tried.

Deschutes Hop Trip October 9, 2011
Overall Rating

2011 Hop Trip. Deep red gold color with large creamy head. Beautiful citrus and floral aromas and fantastic clean citrus taste. I expected typical hoppy carbonation but found it to be range in that regard. Basically, add some carbonated bite and I'd think it was an IPA. This is a great seasonal ale that i thoroughly enjoyed, but would probably enjoy somewhat sparingly as i personally like that hoppy carbonated bite.

Decent, but fairly average. Nice hoppy introduction, but it fades fairly quickly and is just... done... If only the flavor would actually stick around.

First impression is the aroma. It's BEYOND amazing! It's INCREDIBLE! Beautiful dark color and medium brown head. The aroma really is tantalizing! First sip: power-punch of sweetness and rich creme brulee flavors. Some subtle coffee flavors, but not a lot of heavy flavors typical of a quality imperial stout. Realistically, they're masked by the creme brulee... After the first sip or two you really have to take a step back and take a mini break. This stout really is equivalent to eating an entire creme brulee. And your spouse's And your in-law's... I LOVE a great stout but this one was just too much. I got through about 10oz before I had to call it quits. You owe it to yourself to try it once, but share the 22 with 2 other friends. You'll enjoy it far more in extreme moderation.

Supergoose IPA September 6, 2011
Overall Rating

Their quote "there can never be too many hops... but this one comes close" is accurate, except that I'd say it came closer than it should've. There really is a hop explosion in your mouth and a very strong mouthfeel that takes a long time to dissipate. All the good characteristics of an IPA but with far too many hops for me, and I'm an IPA lover! Once is enough for more with the Supergoose!

Steelhead Scotch Porter August 30, 2011
Overall Rating

Very nice Porter with great tasting roasted/burnt coffee and chocolate flavors. This Porter isn't an "in your face taste explosion" but is a bit more subdued which makes it easy and very pleasant to drink. The color is a touch lighter than I was expecting. The flavor however is extremely well balanced and is something to be slowly savored. Definitely a great go-to Porter. I would expect nothing less from Mad River!

I liked the introductory flavors and enjoyed the carbonation, but was left after each drink with a long lasting aftertaste that bordered on the unpleasant... Kind of an odd, bitter, weird, unexpected aftertaste... I'll probably try it again at some point to see if I just paired it with the wrong meal or something, but I was very unimpressed. I really wanted to like it, too...
