Fruit Mead (Melomel)

About Fruit Mead (Melomel)

While all fruit meads will be clear, the appearance will vary depending on the fruit used to produce them. Meads produced from apples will be pale to deep golden while those produced from grapes will be straw to deep purple in color. Similarly, the aroma of fruit meads will be distinctive to the fruit used to produce that variety. Mead made with apples, for example, should smell of apples and honey. This fruit should also be identifiable in the flavor of the mead, but may range from subtle to intense in presence. The sweetness of the mead may also vary depending on the fruits used, and the finish will be dry to sweet.
